KAMLOOPS — The TRU WolfPack have partnered with a Canadian charity to offer free youth programming in the City of Kamloops.

The WolfPack announced the partnership with Play Forever Monday (Aug. 18). Founded in Richmond Hill, Ontario in 2018, Play Forever says it is dedicated to providing structured and accessible recreation, education, employment and mental health services in Canada.

In a news release, the WolfPack say kids in Grades 6 to 9 will be able to take part in a weekly basketball camp that will tip off at the John Tod Community Centre. It will run on Tuesdays from Sept. 16 to Oct. 28.

This camp will include basketball skills, 3-vs-3 play, a group meal and a guest speaker. Programming will be coordinated locally by TRU Athletics with support from Play Forever staff.

“We are grateful to the Play Forever team for their support in bringing this valuable program to Kamloops,” WolfPack Athletics Director Curtis Atkinson said. “We are looking forward to partnering together to have an impact on youth in the Kamloops region.”

According to the WolfPack, the camp was made possible through a $10,000 contribution from Play Forever to support program delivery, staffing and logistics in Kamloops.

“Play Forever is a National Registered Charity committed to building better communities through inclusive sport opportunities,” Clint Hamilton, the Manager of Programs and Operations at Play Forever added.

“We look forward to our partnership with the WolfPack men’s basketball team to unlock opportunities for youth in the Kamloops region.”

People interested in taking part in the camp can register online here. Registration forms will also be available at BGC Kamloops located at 150 Wood Street.
