KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Airport (YKA) has launched a new community-driven initiative called YKA Drop Zone, where people can donate their empties to benefit to a number of different local groups.

In a news release, airport staff say a number of secure collection bins have been set up across the airport. They say organizations will empty the bins on a regular basis and pocket the proceeds after they’ve taken the bottles and cans to a bottle depot.

“The YKA Drop Zone builds on Kamloops Airport’s broader sustainability strategy and reflects our core values of environmental stewardship and community impact,” YKA Managing Director, Jim Moroz, said.

“By reducing landfill waste and reinvesting the value of recyclables into local initiatives, YKA continues to lead by example in regional airport stewardship.”
