Getting heated: One arrested, Kamloops RCMP officer pushed during Hot Nite in the City melee

KAMLOOPS — RCMP in Kamloops say a man was taken into custody for allegedly interfering with a police investigation during Hot Nite In the City over the weekend.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they were called to the 300-block of Victoria Street around 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 9) to reports of a fight. While details remain unclear, police say the man was arrested after he pushed a police officer.

“Due to the proactive patrols associated with the operational plan to respond to Ribfest issues, police were able to respond quickly and maintain public safety,” Kamloops RCMP Superintendent Jeff Pelley said.

“As part of the plan we had additional frontline officers proactively patrolling the downtown core throughout the weekend.”
