Annual Kamloops seniors’ picnic scheduled for August 29

Aug 9, 2025 | 1:30 PM

KAMLOOPS — The annual Kamloops seniors’ picnic will take place at the east end of Riverside Park in less than three weeks on Friday (Aug. 29).

The City of Kamloops says the free event will give people over the age of 55 an afternoon of entertainment and camaraderie.

According to the city, the Kamloops Rube Band and Gary Mockford will provide musical entertainment to attendees, who will also be served a picnic-style hot dog lunch courtesy the Kamloops Paddlewheelers Lions Club.

There will also be gentle fitness exercises like chair yoga and chair Zumba as well as lawn games on offer.

This year’s seniors picnic, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is being co-sponsored by Kamloops Seniors Village and the Hamlets at Westsyde. While tables and chairs will be provided, attendees will have to bring their own water bottles, hats, and sunscreen.

Registration is also required, and people are being asked to call 250-828-3500 or go online here to confirm their attendance at the seniors’ picnic.

There will be free parking in the east parking lot by Sandman Centre. However, the city is urging people to carpool or use other transportation options like buses or bicycles given the limited parking space and ongoing construction downtown.
