Kamloops-area unemployment rate rises to 10.7% in July
KAMLOOPS — New data from Statistics Canada shows the unemployment rate in the Kamloops census metropolitan area was into the double digits in the month of July.
The data released Friday (Aug. 8) showed the unemployment rate in the Kamloops area — which includes the city of Kamloops, Sun Peaks, Logan Lake, and Chase — is at 10.7 per cent, up from 9.2 per cent in June.
Year-over-year, the unemployment rate in Kamloops was nearly doubled from the 5.6 per cent it was in July last year.
