Power Outage

Over 1,200 customers in Fraser Canyon between Hope and Lytton without power for over 16 hours

LYTTON — Over 1,200 residential customers of BC Hydro in the Fraser Canyon north of Hope, as well as in Lytton, have been without power since Monday (Aug. 4) afternoon.

According to BC Hydro’s online outage map dashboard, 573 customers in the Boston Bar area lost power at 1:40 p.m. Monday due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

Similarly, 174 customers near Kanaka Bar and Falls Creek north of Boston Bar lost power at 1:44 p.m. Monday for the same reason.

The power outage also impacted Lytton where 516 customers lost power at 4:20 p.m. due to a downed tree across hydro wires.

BC Hydro had previously estimated that power would be restored by 8:00 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 5), but they have since pushed that estimate back to noon.
