Kamloops firefighters snuff out Saturday grassfire along Trans-Canada Highway

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops firefighters made quick work of a Saturday (Aug. 2) evening grassfire along the Trans-Canada Highway near the Yellowhead Interchange with Highway 5.

Firefighters were called around 6:30 p.m. and they appeared to have had the fire extinguished within about a half an hour.

Pictures sent to CFJC Today showed an RCMP vehicle on scene to manage traffic on Highway 1 as well as a number of fire engines.

At time time, it’s not clear what caused this fire as calls to Kamloops Fire Rescue have not yet been returned.
