Sun Peaks Resort hosting ‘Mountain Lifestyle Wellness Weekend’ this BC Day

SUN PEAKS, B.C. — It’s shaping up to be a busy BC Day weekend at Sun Peaks Resort as the resort hosts ‘Mountain Lifestyle Wellness Weekend.’

Sun Peaks Director of Communications Christina Antoniak says the wellness weekend features a number of events including a scavenger hunt that runs until Sunday (Aug. 3).

“Basically it’ll be located all over Tod Mountain,” Antoniak said. “There will be 30 checkpoints for folks to interactively explore the trail network and every checkpoint you find is an entry into a draw to win really great prizes from Helly Hansen.”

Other events at ‘Mountain Lifestyle Wellness Weekend’ include a yoga experience on Tod Mountain on Sunday and an intro to trail running session which was held Saturday morning.

“Mountain Lifestyle Wellness Weekend is designed to celebrate the unique beauty of our alpine wildflowers and give guests new ways to engage with our trails,” Antoniak added.

She noted the August long weekend is roughly the mid-point of the summer season at Sun Peaks Resort.

“The wildflower season is in peak bloom right now, all the flowers are out and of course that is easy access up the Sunburst Chairlift for our hiking trail network,” she added.

If hiking or mountain biking isn’t your thing, Antoniak says there are plenty of other events and activities for people to do at a number of local restaurants and other businesses in Sun Peaks.

“We want a nice well rounded experience because we have a lot of people who come to Sun Peaks for a gentle escape from the city, so to speak, so if you’re not a hardcore mountain biker or hiker, there is still so much to experience,” Antoniak said.

“There is something for everyone.”
