Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Kamloops, surrounding region

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a large portion of the Southern Interior.

The watch, put in place Friday afternoon (Aug. 1), covers the North and South Thompson regions, as well as Nicola, Shuswap and North Okanagan.

The forecaster says conditions are in place for the arrival of strong winds, heavy rain and large hail.

If that weather arrives, it may cause treacherous driving conditions as people hit the highways on their way to long weekend leisure destinations.
