Pair of small wildfires spark near Heffley Creek

KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE July 31 5:30 a.m.): The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says two small wildfires that sparked in the Heffley Creek area Wednesday (July 30) were likely caused by lightning.

The two fires are burning just west of Lyons Lake. Neither fire has grown to one hectare yet, according to the most recent update from BCWS.

It said there are four firefighters and three helicopters responding to the two fires north of Kamloops.

There are no related evacuation alerts or orders in place from the Thompson Nicola Regional District.
