KAMLOOPS — The show must go on, and a little rain on Friday (July 25) hasn’t dampened the spirits of the performers or spectators at the Kamloops International Buskers Fest.

It’s the sixth year the event has taken over Riverside Park, with performers from around the globe descending into Kamloops for four days of unicycle riding, sword swallowing, juggling and everything in between.

“The weather has been a little bit of a damper [Friday], but hopefully this evening, tomorrow and Sunday the weather is better and we still have our six international performers who are finding a way to put shows on even with the rain,” said Event Coordinator Lucas Sweet. “There is a lot to enjoy and the small crowd that showed up today had a great time and a lot of laughs all around.”

The rain on Friday forced organizers to get creative, moving from rain-soaked stages to dry spots under large trees to keep the party going. The Buskers Festival is set to run through Sunday evening with performance all day throughout the park.

“There is always something happening. We have a music stop all the way through. We have a market here,” said Sweet, “and the performers are finding a way, whether it’s under a tree, it might not be on the stage like we like, but they are finding a way to put on a show for people.”
