Interior Health issues second drug alert for Kamloops in as many days

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued another drug alert for the Kamloops area warning of multiple contaminated street drugs.

It said the drugs are being sold as down, dope, and fentanyl have tested positive for carfentanil (1.2 per cent), fentanyl (21 to 50 per cent), and/or fluorofentanyl (21 to 50 per cent).

“Carfentanil is up to 100 times stronger than fentanyl. Fluorofentanyl is up to two times stronger than fentanyl,” Interior Health said, “Average concentrations of fentanyl are 6 per cent and fluorofentanyl is 7 per cent.”

According to Interior Health, the substances come in a variety of colours and textures. Pictures attached to the drug alert show a yellow, a green, and a purple chunky substance.
