KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued a drug alert for Kamloops after pills sold on the street as a common painkiller were found to contain a mysterious fentanyl analog.

In an alert distributed Thursday (July 24), IH says the counterfeit tablets were being sold as dilaudid (dillies) or hydromorphone.

Instead, the pills actually contain N-propionyl parafluoronorfentanyl, a drug related to fentanyl and described by IH as a ‘novel substance in the drug supply,’ meaning officials don’t have much data on its toxicity and effects.

The white tablets are triangular, with ‘APO’ imprinted on one side and the number 8 on the other.
