Peterson Creek Park closed off as police respond to ‘tragic death’

KAMLOOPS — Peterson Creek Park was closed most of Wednesday morning (July 23) after what police are calling a ‘tragic incident’.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier with Kamloops RCMP says officers were called to an area under the Peterson Creek Bridge around 5:50 a.m., where a young person died, despite lifesaving measures.
“Police are on scene investigating the circumstances of this tragic death; however, criminality is not believed to be a factor at this time,” states Napier. “We offer our condolences to the family and friends for their loss.”
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-23685.
