KELOWNA — The Kelowna RCMP detachment has a new leader who spent his formative policing years in Kamloops.

Supt. Chris Goebel was named the new top cop in the central Okanagan city Wednesday (July 23). He has been the acting Officer in Charge of the Kelowna detachment since December 2024.

Goebel began his RCMP career 24 years ago with the Kamloops Rural and Kamloops City detachments.

From there, his career has taken him to Surrey, Langley, Richmond and Coquitlam, as well as specialized roles with Emergency Response Teams in the Southeast District and Lower Mainland, and the BC RCMP Major Crime Section.
