Jul 17, 2025 | 2:27 PM

SAVONA, B.C. – (UPDATE 9:00 p.m.): The Trans-Canada Highway has reopened after a nearly seven hour closure due to a rockslide near Savona.

In an update at 8:10 p.m., DriveBC said the highway had reopened in both directions, though other details – including what caused the rockslide – are currently available.

The rockslide, which is located on the highway near the Savona Fire Department, occurred just after 1:00 p.m. Thursday (July 17). It forced vehicles between Kamloops and Cache Creek to detour via Highway 5 and Highway 24 through Little Fort or via Highway 5 and Highway 97C and 97D through Logan Lake and Ashcroft.

Some vehicles were also being allowed through the community of Savona via the Savona Access Road.
