BC Hydro says work underway to restore power after Wednesday windstorm
KAMLOOPS — BC Hydro says it has worked to restore power to thousands of Kamloops-area residents who were in the dark after Wednesday’s (July 16) windstorm, and it hopes to have all power back on in the near future.
In a statement, BC Hydro says severe thunderstorm activity led to numerous power outages across the Thompson/Shuswap as well as in the Central Interior.
“All available crews are working to restore power as efficiently and safely as possible, and additional crews are being brought in from other areas,” the statement said. “The latest restoration estimates will be provided on our outage list.”
As of publishing, BC Hydro said there are 2,349 customers across the Thompson/Shuswap currently in the dark. There don’t appear to be any current outages in City of Kamloops limits, but a number of area communities are impacted, primarily in the Shuswap.
