KAMLOOPS — Boaters in Kamloops and the surrounding area are being warned of strong and gusty winds Wednesday (July 16) night.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Nicola, Shuswap and South Thompson regions, as well as the Central and North Okanagan, including communities such as Kelowna and Vernon.
The weather agency states that gusts of up to 70 km/h may break boats free from their moorings, create a sudden rise in waves, toss loose objects and cause utility outages.
It’s due to an upper disturbance moving though the southern interior from early Wednesday evening until midnight.
