WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — One person was killed in a crash on the Cariboo Highway north of Williams Lake over the weekend.

Williams Lake RCMP say they were told of a two-vehicle collision between a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Toyota Camry on Highway 97 at Mountain House Road at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday (July 12).

In a news release issued Monday (July 14), RCMP say the initial investigation indicates the Toyota with four people inside pulled onto the highway in front of the pickup. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene while the other three occupants, and the driver of the pickup, were sent to hospital for treatment.

RCMP believed speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
