KAMLOOPS — Tyrelle Chadwick of Kamloops was selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, which wrapped up on Monday (July 14) in Cumberland, Georgia.

The Colorado Rockies picked Chadwick — a 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed pitcher — in the 18th round (527th overall).

Chadwick pitched for the Illinois State Redbirds in the NCAA Division One ranks for the past three seasons.

In 2025, Chadwick made 12 starts in 14 appearances for the Redbirds, posting a 6-3 record, one complete game and a 4.31 ERA in a team-high 77.1 innings of work.

He was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team this spring.

Chadwick — who attended Westmount elementary and Westsyde secondary — holds a place in Kamloops NorthPaws’ history.

He was the opening day starter in the club’s West Coast League expansion season in 2022, throwing the first pitch in franchise history. He also recorded the club’s first hit and first run in the same game.

Ray Chadwick, Tyrelle’s father, is head coach of the TRU WolfPack baseball team and was picked by the California Angels in the 16th round of the 1983 MLB Draft.
