“This is an exciting milestone for our team and our partners,” Rupert Harper, General Manager of Okanagan Gondola with Ridge North America, said in a media release.

“We’re looking forward to building an experience that celebrates the landscape and spirit of the Okanagan region.”

The company said the gondola will offer breathtaking views, access to immersive trails, and have a dinning area at the summit. It noted this will complement the local tourism amenities and contribute to the area’s economy as a destination for outdoor and cultural experiences.

“This project has the unique characteristic of creating something truly special for both residents and visitors,” David McKenna, President of Ridge North America, said.

“It’s rewarding to be part of something that connects people to the outdoors in such a meaningful way.”

A recent report to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee noted some concerns with water connections for the Okanagan Gondola, which was accepted as information to be brought forward at the Regional District of North Okanagan Board of Directors meeting.

Despite those concerns, the ground was broken Thursday, July 10, in preparation for construction of the gondola.
