KAMLOOPS — The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has revealed the lineup for this year’s Midsummer Music Jam, which is part of the Music in the Park concert series.

The event at the Riverside Park bandshell on Wednesday, July 23, will be headlined by Canadian country music star Aaron Pritchett.

The Terrace native has over 30 Juno, Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA), Western Canadian Music Awards and BC Country Music Association Award nominations to his name. He’s also got multiple wins for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year as well as a CCMA SOCAN Songwriter of the Year award.

“[He] has been a household name in Canadian country music for over two decades,” a release from BCLC said. “Pritchett continues to push the boundaries of the country music genre, landing him 13 Top Ten hits, including the pop crowd-pleaser Worth a Shot and the heart string-pulling ballad, Warm Safe Place.

Opening the show that night will be East Coast-born country artist Julian Austin, who will be performing some of his biggest hits along with his brand-new song Still Over There.

“Throughout the years, Julian has released five albums, for which he’s received several music nominations and accolades, including the Juno’s, Wrangler Rising Star and the Canadian Radio Music Awards, to name a few,” BCLC added.

BCLC says it will have people in Riverside Park with games, prizes and birthday cake as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. The Kamloops Food Bank will also be on site with a 50/50 and bottled water by donation. It will also be collecting donations of non-perishable food items.

“We strive to put human connection at the heart of everything we do, to help our players, partners and communities thrive,” the BCLC statement added. “We believe that when we feel more connected to each other, our communities and our province, together we win.”
