South Thompson region under special weather statement, heavy rainfall anticipated

KAMLOOPS — The potential for heavy rain has prompted a special weather statement from Environment Canada.
The forecaster says the South Thompson region could see embedded thunderstorms Wednesday (July 9), which would heighten rainfall amounts. With that comes a risk for localized flooding, landslides, and poor visibility on the roads.
The heavy rain potential is expected all day today (July 9) and tonight.
Environment Canada says it’s not clear yet where exactly the rain will hit or how much will actually arrive, but the weather statement is covering areas near Highway 1 from Ashcroft to Three Valley Gap.
