Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club athletes preparing for eventful summer; Grover wins European bronze

KAMLOOPS — A little bit of rain did not keep the Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club from hosting an open house on Wednesday (July 9) at Shumway Lake.

The event doubled as a training session for a few of the high-performance paddlers who will represent the club and the province at the Canada Summer Games in August in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Harris Hunter, Douglas Hunter and Damian Hickey will compete in sprint kayak, while Corben Hickey and Nate Neuls will race in sprint canoe.

Meanwhile, another Kamloops paddler is excelling on the international scene.

Mischa Grover competed for Poland at the European Canoe Association Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships last weekend in Romania.

She won a bronze medal in the junior C2 200-metre event.
