Arson suspected in Strathcona Park grass fire

KAMLOOPS — Following witness reports of a grass fire being intentionally set in the city Tuesday afternoon (July 8), police say it’s now an arson investigation.
A fire broke out just before 4 p.m. in Strathcona Park yesterday, which quickly grew to one hectare in size before firefighters put it out.
Kamloops RCMP say they are treating the incident as suspicious and have identified a person of interest. Adding that police are working with Kamloops Fire Rescue to confirm exactly how it started, and whether it’s related to any other recent fires in the downtown area.
