KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops NorthPaws are perfect to start the second half of the 2025 West Coast League (WCL) season.

The NorthPaws swept a three-game home series against the Wenatchee AppleSox, following a 5-4 win on Monday (June 30), a 1-0 walk off win on Tuesday and a 6-3 win on Wednesday that was powered by a Kalen Applefield grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning.

With the sweep from Norbrock Stadium, the NorthPaws are 3-0 in the second half of the WCL regular season and 17-13 overall. Kamloops is first in the North Division in the second half and third overall.

Eight teams qualify for the WCL postseason at the end of the regular season, four from the North and South Divisions respectively. Two postseason spots are reserved for teams with the highest winning percentage in the first and second halves of the season. The remaining two spots are filled by wildcard teams who had the highest overall winning percentage in the regular season but didn’t finish with the best records in the first or second halves.

In the North Division, the Bellingham Bells earned the first postseason spot with an 18-9 record in the first half. The NorthPaws finished fourth in the North in the first half of the season with a 14-13 record.

As of Thursday morning, the NorthPaws are in the driver’s seat atop the North Division in the second half of the WCL regular season with a 3-0 record. Additionally, they’re two games ahead of the 14-14 Victoria HarbourCats in the race to secure a wildcard spot as a top four team in the division.

In WCL play, the NorthPaws are off until Tuesday, July 8, when they visit the Wenatchee AppleSox for a three-game series in Washington State. Their next home series begins Friday, July 11 when they welcome the Bellingham Bells to Norbrock Stadium.
