WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Cariboo region Wednesday (July 2).

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce heavy rain, large hail and strong wind gusts. The advisory covers communities such as 100 Mile House, Clinton and Williams Lake.

The weather agency warns that heavy rain can cause flash flooding and reduce visibility, while large hail can cause damage to property and injure residents and strong wind gusts can damage buildings, trees and vehicles.
