CLINTON, B.C. — A 66-year-old man suffered serious, life-altering injuries after a crash that caused a lengthy closure of the Cariboo Highway, south of Clinton.

RCMP in Clinton were called to Highway 97 at Clinton Cemetery Road just after 12:00 p.m. Sunday (June 29) after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided.

Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, BC RCMP Senior Media Relations Officer, told CFJC Today the motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital and he is in stable condition. He said its not clear what caused the crash as the investigation is in its early stages.

“In cases of serious crashes where criminality may be involved, we will take the time we need to gather all of the available evidence at the scene,” Clark said. “Unfortunately, that often involves closing the highway so we can do that safely and reopening as soon as we can afterwards.”
