Man charged in targeted firearm incident at Kamloops motel

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man has been charged following an incident involving a gun at a motel in the city on June 15, 2025.

Kamloops RCMP say 37-year-old Carson Anthony Mitchell appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court on June 16. He’s charged with:

  • assault with a weapon
  • carrying a concealed weapon without authorization
  • careless use of a firearm
  • occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm was present
  • possession of a firearm without a license
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • uttering threats

In a news release issued Tuesday (June 24) night, S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet stated that while police can’t reveal specifics now that Mitchell’s matters are before the courts, investigators believe the gun incident is isolated and targeted.
