NorthPaws take two of three games against Victoria HarbourCats

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops NorthPaws scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete the comeback against the Victoria HarbourCats Sunday (June 22) afternoon.

Joey Rico and Anthony Setticasi scored unearned runs to give the NorthPaws the 6-5 win in the rubber match of the three game series, which Kamloops took two games to one.

The NorthPaws led 2-0 after one inning Sunday afternoon, but a Jai Berezowski grand slam off Kaden Douglas-Pluff had the HarbourCats up 5-2 after two innings.

Kamloops scored two more in the third inning to make it a 5-4 game, and then managed to find a way to win their fourth series of the season improve to 12-9, good for fourth place in the West Coast League’s North Division.

Victoria meanwhile dropped to 11-10 and sit in fifth place.

The NorthPaws won 1-0 Saturday (June 21) after Victoria’s Garret Villa surrendered a bases loaded walk to Elijah Clayton in an extra inning, which scored Kalen Applefield.

Victoria bounced back with a 1-0 win of their own in the second game of Saturday’s seven- inning doubleheader after Friday night’s game was called off due to rain.

The NorthPaws are off on Monday (June 23), but they will host the 6-12 Kelowna Falcons on Tuesday and Thursday this week. They’ll play in Kelowna on Wednesday.
