UPDATE: Wildfire near Battle Bluffs trailhead being held at 1.5 hectares
KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE 9:30 p.m.): The BC Wildfire Service says a wildfire that sparked west of the Battle Bluffs trailhead Sunday (June 15) afternoon is being held at 1.5 hectares in size.
Crews were attacking the fire with ground and aerial resources not long after it was first detected.
Information officer Cali Nessman told CFJC Today just after 3:00 p.m. that there were two airtankers, one helicopter, and a birddog attacking the fire which is located off Frederick Road, near Kamloops Airport. Those aerial resources were joined by about a half dozen ground crews.
“It all depends on the situation,” Nessman said, when asked about the number of resources deployed to the fire. “I think right now with the availability that we have, we’re able to put more resources on to extinguish the fire faster, but yeah, it depends on the situation.”
