WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake say a man was arrested Thursday (June 12) after he was spotted dealing drugs by officers who were out on patrol.

In a news release Friday (June 13), police say officers from the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit (CC-CRU) spotted a man “making hand-to-hand transactions consistent with drug trafficking.” They note he was arrested and found to be in possession of illicit drugs, cash and drug trafficking materials.

The CC-CRU also said it applied for and got a warrant to search the man’s house where more drugs, illicit cigarettes, money and weapons were found.

Police note the man, who was not identified in the release, was released pending further investigation.

This is the latest in a series of busts involving the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit in Williams Lake, though police have not said if they are believed to be connected.

A suspected drug dealer was arrested on Tuesday (June 10), and last week, a number of drugs, weapons, illegal cigarettes, and cash was seized from a house on Smith Street.

“The Williams Lake RCMP with the support of CC-CRU are committed to disrupting the drug trade in our community,” Insp. Rob Lake, the Officer in Charge of the Williams Lake RCMP Detachment, said in a statement.

“Our Williams Lake officers will continue to work hard to make our community a difficult place to conduct criminal activities.”

Police in Williams Lake say people who spot a crime in progress or suspicious activity should call at 250-392-6211 or 9-1-1 if its an emergency.
