
Kamloops RCMP investigating after spike belt used to stop stolen delivery van Friday
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say one person was arrested after spike belt was used to stop a delivery van that was stolen the North Shore Friday (June 13) morning.
In a statement, police say the van was seen driving away from the intersection of Tranquille Road and Simcoe Avenue, near the Northills Shopping Centre, around 11:00 a.m. Friday.
They note the spike belt was used near Grand Boulevard on the East Trans Canada Highway, adding the vehicle came to a stop near Pat Road in Dallas about six kilometres east
“Police officers observed erratic and dangerous driving behaviour leading us to believe a spike belt was necessary to protect the public,” Sgt. Chris Kienzle, a spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment said.
