KAMLOOPS — General manager Alec Hubert and head pro Andrew Bentley of the Kamloops Golf and Country Club were flying around the course on Thursday (June 12) morning, winding through the willows while raising money for the fight against ALS.

Representatives from 28 golf courses in B.C. are taking part in the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS during the month of June, with funds raised supporting psychological treatment programs and sending youth affected by ALS to summer camp.

Golfers swing the sticks from dawn to dusk, aiming to complete as many holes as possible before darkness arrives.

Hubert and Bentley teed off at 4:20 a.m. and were on their fifth round of the day as of 10:30 a.m.

Hubert did not expect to eclipse his personal record of 16 rounds and one hole, but the duo was on pace to complete about 12 rounds today.

Hubert said he has logged as many as 55,000 steps and burned about 12,000 calories during past Golfathons.

The Kamloops Golf and Country Club has set a fundraising goal of $7,500.

Donate online on the PGA of BC Golfathon website throughout the month of June.

Pros at Mount Paul Golf Course and Talking Rock Golf Course are also participating.
