Latest temporary closure of Lillooet emergency department to last into the weekend
LILLOOET, B.C. — The 36th temporary closure of the Lillooet emergency department in 2025 will last into the weekend.
Interior Health says emergency services will be unavailable from 7:00 a.m. Thursday (June 12) until 8:00 a.m. Saturday. During this time, the health authority is asking residents in the area who need emergency care to travel to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
A reason for the temporary 49-hour closure was not provided in a news release issued Wednesday, although Interior Health has said all closures of the Lillooet emergency department have been because of a lack of physicians.
In total, the emergency room in Lillooet will be unavailable for 895 hours this year.
