RCMP looking for person of interest after series of downtown Kamloops dumpster fires

KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops are looking for a person of interest connected to an arson investigation from last week that they say may be linked to others downtown.
Kamloops RCMP say officers responded to a dumpster on fire near the 100-block of Victoria Street West around 2:25 a.m. Tuesday (June 3). They note Kamloops Fire Rescue crews were also on scene to put out the fire.
“This investigation is one of at least half a dozen fire reports in the downtown area over the last month, most of which were in dumpsters,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said, in a statement.
“Whether or not the fires are related is part of the ongoing investigation.”
