Major hydro outage in Kamloops restored as section of Tranquille corridor remains in the dark
KAMLOOPS — BC Hydro says power has been restored to thousands of customers in the Kamloops-area who were in the dark for a couple of hours Monday (June 9) morning.
It says a cable fault is to blame for the outage that – according to the BC Hydro outage map – affected 2,696 customers around Thompson Rivers University and the City’s West End, as well as a large section of the Tranquille corridor on the North Shore.
Power had been out since 4:18 a.m. Monday, and BC Hydro says all power should be back on by 6:00 a.m.
A cable fault is also being blamed for a secondary outage along Tranquille Road between Mackenzie Avenue and Sydney Avenue, that is currently affecting 79 BC Hydro custimers.
