
UPDATE: Power restored after massive Sunday outage in Kamloops-area
KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE 6:00 p.m.): BC Hydro says equipment failure was to blame for a large outage that affected nearly 2,500 of its customers in the Kamloops area Sunday (June 8) afternoon.
According to the BC Hydro outage map, there were 2,467 customers in Aberdeen, Dufferin, Sahali, as well as along Lac Le Jeune Road and areas west towards Cherry Creek who were in the dark for nearly four hours Sunday as temperatures hovered in the low 30s.
Power was knocked out around 1:49 p.m., and it was restored around 5:35 p.m. BC Hydro were reportedly on scene around 3:00 p.m.
Another 98 customers along the Tranquille corridor between Mackenzie Avenue and Sydney Avenue are also without power because of a separate outage.
