SICAMOUS, B.C. — (UPDATE 3:15 p.m.): DriveBC says the Trans-Canada Highway at the R.W. Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous has reopened after a rockslide.
It first reported of the closure around 2:30 a.m. Thursday (June 5), and said the highway would be closed for most of the day.
A geotechnical investigation was underway, and drivers were told to detour via Highways 97A and 97B.
The R.W. Bruhn Bridge has experienced daily closures and periods of single-lane-alternating traffic because of construction in the area. Crews are working to four-lane a nearly two kilometre section of the highway, which includes the replacement of the existing bridge as well as intersection improvements between Old Sicamous Road and Silver Sands Road.
