KAMLOOPS — Disaster-proofing infrastructure in Cache Creek got a shot in the arm this week, with the village securing nearly $400,000 in provincial grant money.

In a news release, the Village of Cache Creek says it has been approved for $394,000 from B.C.’s Disaster Resilience and Innovation Funding program. The money will be put toward planning and design of the community’s Sewer Protection Options Analysis and Design project.

It’s the latest effort by village council to upgrade local infrastructure in the flood-prone community.

“This funding allows us to take an essential step toward protecting Cache Creek’s infrastructure and safeguarding the well-being of our residents,” said Mayor John Ranta. “By investing in planning today, we are better positioned to mitigate the impacts of future flooding events.”
