KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops NorthPaws had a perfect weekend to start the 2025 West Coast League (WCL) season.

Opening their season in Washington State, the NorthPaws swept their three-game series against Port Angeles Lefties.

Following blowout victories of 8-0 and 11-5 on Friday (May 30) and Saturday respectively, the NorthPaws completed the sweep with some late-game dramatics on Sunday.

Trailing the Lefties 7-4 heading to the top of the eighth inning, the NorthPaws rallied for six runs thanks to some small ball. Kamloops scored three runs off three singles and two walks to tie the game 7-7 before Port Angeles registered an out. The NorthPaws added three more runs off a Lefties’ fielder’s choice and two wild pitches.

The Lefties added two more runs and had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. NorthPaws pitcher Cade Webber bent earlier by allowing one run on two hits and two walks, but he punched out Jay O’Neill, the Lefties’ second man in the batting order, to record Kamloops’ second strikeout of the game and the 10-9 win.

The NorthPaws are tied for first in the WCL North Division with the Victoria HarbourCats, with both teams sitting with 3-0 records. The NorthPaws remain in Washington State to begin a three-game series with the Bellingham Bells on Tuesday (June 3).

The NorthPaws play their home opener on Friday, June 6 when they welcome the Kelowna Falcons to Norbrock Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
