KAMLOOPS — With summer temperatures on the way, The Mustard Seed in Kamloops is calling on people and businesses in the community to donate bottled water, which would be distributed to people in need.

In a news release, The Mustard Seed said its looking for donations of unopened bottled water in either standard or bulk packaging. It says people can also donate money which would be used to buy water as well as other supplies.

“We know that heat can be just as dangerous as cold for those without access to shelter or hydration,” Dave Conrad, The Mustard Seed’s Senior Director of Community Engagement and Volunteer Services said.

“A simple bottle of water can be life-saving. We’re asking the community to come together and help us meet the need before it becomes critical.”

The Mustard Seed will once again be operating The Gathering Place at 48 Victoria Street West in Kamloops. According to the City, the facility will be operated as a day space for seven hours a day, Tuesday to Sunday, until the end of September.

People can make donations at The Mustard Seed’s Outreach Centre at 181 West Victoria Street between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Donations can also be made online or arranged by phone at 1-833-448-4673.

“The Mustard Seed distributes thousands of water bottles to guests across our shelters, drop-in spaces, and community programs,” The Mustard Seed said, in a statement.

“We are working to stock up now to ensure no one is left without relief.”
