Katzberg of Kamloops golden again at Kip Keino Classic

NAIROBI, KENYA — It’s another accolade for Kamloops-trained hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg, as he won gold at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya Saturday (May 31).
The 23-year-old Katzberg, a Nanaimo native, won the men’s title with a throw of 82.73 metres. Croatia’s Matija Greguric finished in second with a throw of 76.68 metres, while Hungary’s Daniel Raba was third at 75.93 metres.
Katzberg, the reigning Olympic champion, won the event – which is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour – last year with a throw of 84.38 metres. He also finished second in 2023 with a throw of 76.38 metres.
