BLUE RIVER, B.C. — (UPDATE: June 1, 10:10 a.m.): A section of Highway 5 in the North Thompson is still closed because of flooding north of Blue River.

DriveBC says the road is flooded at the Chappell Creek Recreation Site about 30 km north of Blue River. It first reported of the closure just after 8:15 p.m. Saturday (May 31), and expects to now have an update at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (June 1) afternoon.

There is no detour available, and DriveBC says people should watch for traffic control personnel on scene.

A high streamflow advisory is in place for the North Thompson River basin and the forecast was calling for rain across parts of the Interior Saturday.
