Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the North Thompson and Shuswap

UPDATE (10:00 a.m.): A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for the North Thompson region.

EARLIER: SALMON ARM, B.C. — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Shuswap region.

Environment Canada says conditions Thursday (May 29) are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that may produce heavy rain, large hail and strong wind gusts.

The weather agency warns that heavy rain can cause flash flooding and reduce visibility, while large hail can cause significant damage and injury.

A severe thunderstorm watch is also in effect for the Okanagan.
