Revelstoke RCMP arrest escaped prisoner, alleged accomplice

KAMLOOPS — RCMP in Alberta are crediting their colleagues in Revelstoke for collaring a pair of fugitives this week.

In a news release, Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says Mackenzie Dawn Hardy, 24, and David Joseph Wood, 27, were arrested in Revelstoke on Tuesday (May 27).

Savinkoff says Hardy was inadvertently released from prison on April 27. Investigators believe she conspired with Wood to secure her release from custody by fraudulent means.

An arrest warrant was issued for Wood last Friday (May 23).

On Tuesday, a patrol officer in Revelstoke noticed the pair walking away from a stolen vehicle and initiated their arrests.

Wood is charged with assisting the escape of a prisoner, identity fraud and uttering a forged document. In addition to her existing outstanding warrants, Hardy is charged with escaping lawful custody.

The two have been remanded in custody and will be taken back to Alberta for future court dates.
