CLEARWATER, B.C. — Residents in the North Thompson region are being told to expect warmer than seasonal temperatures Tuesday (May 27) and Wednesday (May 28).

In a special weather statement online, Environment Canada says a ridge of high pressure daytime high temperatures in the high 20s during the day Tuesday, overnight lows in the low teens Tuesday night and daytime highs in the low to mid 30s Wednesday.

The weather agency says cooler air will arrive Thursday and lower the temperatures to near seasonal values.

Until then, residents are asked not to leave people or pets in a parked vehicle, and to watch for the effects of heat illness such as cramps, fainting, rash and heavy sweating. Residents in need of reprieve from the heat are encouraged to visit an air-conditioned building, shaded area or swimming pool, and to take a bath or shower.
