LYTTON, B.C. — The Trans Canada Highway through the Fraser Canyon will experience a handful of overnight closures over the next week.

B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge will be closed in both directions from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday (May 28), Thursday (May 27) and next Tuesday (June 3).

In a news release, the province says it’s due placing girders and concrete panels as part of construction of the new bridge over the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway.

During the closures, Highway 1 will be blocked at the junctures with Highways 8 and 12. The province says it will work with emergency services to allow them through the site during these times.
