Caputo back in Ottawa ahead of brief session of parliament
OTTAWA — King Charles III is set to arrive in Canada on Monday, ahead of delivering the speech from the throne on Tuesday (May 27) from Parliament Hill. It will be the first time the speech has been delivered by the monarch since 1977 and the first time in Canadian history by a king.
The speech will commence a short two week sitting of parliament, the first under Prime Minister Mark Carney’s new Liberal minority. Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola MP Frank Caputo, while somewhat doubtful, is hoping for a productive session in Ottawa.
“My goal again is to ask those questions that we’ve been asking for six months. When it comes to housing, when it comes to inflation, when it comes to the budget, things like that… People are still unable to afford a house, the lineups at food banks are still at record levels. These are the things that I think we still need to ask about because they were really overshadowed by Donald Trump and tariffs,” said Caputo.
