KAMLOOPS — More than a dozen guns and a significant number of suspected drugs, stolen property and vehicles were seized from an Aberdeen home.

On Tuesday (May 20), Kamloops RCMP officers and members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a home along Sifton Avenue. Multiple police cruisers were set up outside the home, along with the police dog unit and an armoured truck from ERT.

“The warrant’s execution was associated to a firearms investigation initiated by [the Kamloops detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit], which proved to be productive given the number of items located and seized in the residence,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson stated in a news release issued Wednesday morning. “The assistance of ERT was requested due to the high-risk nature involving the possible — then proven — presence of weapons at the property.”

One person was arrested and later released as part of the investigation, but police expect charges to be recommended.
